Client Background
A mineral water brand, wanting to take its premium water to supermarkets, fitness centres and boutique cafes throughout Australia, was one of the biggest reasons for custom glass water bottles. The client required good quality bottles that aligned with their green image, yet was robust enough to export by sea and widely distribute in retail stores.
Our Challenges
In sourcing, the client faced a number of challenges with the previous suppliers:
- Damage to bottles due to sea transit was recorded as being: Scratches and surface abrasions.
- The bottle necks had irregular shapes which caused leaks during filling.
- Loss rate during palletized shipping was too high.
- Consistency of the brand image in various batches of production was difficult.
The customer also required a particular embossing and the construction of a light bottle with high durability, making the production more complicated.

Root Cause Analysis
Our engineering team, having seen samples and transportation feedback, determined that there are a number of root causes:
- Previous bottle design had uneven wall thickness distribution which make the shoulders more susceptible to impact stress.
- Often standard packaging partitions were not large enough for long-distance container shipping.
- Wrong finish tolerances for neck were found to have an impact on cap sealing performance
- Some suppliers over reduced the bottle weight, thus compromising structural strength when stacking pallets.
All of these led to complaints of leakage, damaged products and increased logistics expenses.
Our Solution
We optimized the whole bottle production process to enhance both product performance and supply stability.
We re-designed the bottle structure to make the shoulder transition area more resistant to compression, and to improve the distribution of glass, giving the bottle a sleek look with increased compression resistance.
We also customized:
- Frosted surface finishing for premium shelf presentation
- Embossed logo molding for stronger brand recognition
- High-precision neck finishing compatible with automatic filling lines
- Lightweight bottle optimization without sacrificing durability
Plus, we also upgraded the export packaging system with thicker carton dividers and reinforced pallet wrapping, further enhancing the safety of exporter transportation.
Results
Once the new packaging was introduced, the client stated that there was a marked decrease in the damage and leakage problems from transportation and filling lines.
The enhanced custom glass water bottles also looked better on the shelf, further elevating the brand’s premium positioning in the Australian beverage sector.
The first shipment was successful, and the customer ordered more of the same sizes and seasonal product lines, hence the long-term cooperation partnership with our factory.
