Client Background
A gourmet honey retailer based in Morocco wanted to start a new premium honey line for local retail outlets and gift packaging lines. The client wanted a dependable glass packaging supplier to deliver a more unique and appealing design for the 16 oz honey bottles along with improved export packaging performance.
The customer sought packaging that would better align with the natural, premium positioning of their honey products, and would also make their products more appealing on retail shelves.

Main Challenges
Prior to engaging us the client had a number of packaging challenges with their previous supplier:
There was no way to distinguish between the standard round jars and distinguish them from the premium branding style needed to sell them in the gift market.
The current lid design was sometimes found to leak when shipped a long distance, particularly when shipped in high-temperature conditions.
Not enough protection led to bottle collision and breakage during warehouses stacking and delivery of containers.
Moreover, the customer required a packaging solution that would enable her products to be displayed in retail stores and shipped overseas without the risks associated with transportation.

Our Solution
We designed and developed a 16 oz glass honey bottle with an upgraded structure inspired by the hexagon shape, based on the customer’s brand and transport needs, to enhance their product presentation and shelf visibility.
- The thickness of the bottom of the bottle was increased for improved handling and shipping. We also optimized the neck finish to be compatible with the metal lid sealing system to help minimize risk of leakage during transit and long-term storage.
- Food-grade sealing liners were placed on the inside of the lids for improved sealing performance, for an airtight closure. This helped to decrease the external moisture exposure on the honey and enhance the storage stability for export distribution.
- The foam divider export cartons were employed to minimize bottle collision during bottle loading and stacking in warehouse, to enhance the safety of the transportation. Support for the customer’s bulk shipping needs was also put in place as part of the packaging solution for pallets.
To complement the client’s high-end retail branding, a customised label application and gold lid finishing process was included to achieve a more sophisticated look for the gourmet food package sector.
Results
Following the launch of the new packaging on the market, the customer shared that the packaging had improved shelf presentation and greater visual differentiation in gift packages and retail stores.
The improved sealing mechanism and export packing also minimized the damage to the package in transport and leakage problems in the regional distribution.
The client switched to a second bulk order for other customized production of bottles for honey within 4 months of the first order, in order to meet the growing demand for selling the product and developing a new product line.
The customer subsequently expanded the cooperation to other projects of glass packaging for food products, thus creating a longterm cooperation with the customer.
