Background
Being a pickle jar wholesaler as a profession, Yeboda was approached by a UK-based pickle brand of producing premium artisanal pickles to be sold in stores and online. The brand was looking at finding a good pickle jar wholesaler who would provide glass that would be of high clarity to make the products more visible, and have better shelf life. They customized glass pickle jars of the type with straight sided cylindrical bodies, ultra-clear flint glass, reinforced bases and with metal screw tops with airtight liners. Our state-of-the-art glass refining technology, stringent optical quality, and experience in creating export-grade jars whose clarity and quality remained consistent were the reasons why the client selected Yeboda.

Challenges
Cloudy Glass in Production
There were batches that had light haze and lack of uniform transparency which lowered premium look and consumer acceptance.
Surface Imperfections
Scratches and micro-bubbles started showing up in the forming process, making it more rejected, and slacking production.
Cause Analysis
Our group made material analysis and production audits and came up with the essential causes:
- Raw glass contained impurities and created micro-bubbles and diffusion of light.
- There was a lack of mold polishing, and fine surface friction marks were left behind in the forming process.

Solution
Raw Material Optimization
To get clearer glass we purified silica, varied batch formulations, and optimized melting and cooling parameters.
Cleaning & Handling Enhancements
Yeboda re-polished molds, added soft-contact handling, and used protective coatings at the post production phase to remove the scratches.
Results
The clarity of the glass increased more than 80, surface flaws were reduced, and yield in the production was higher. The UK brand boosted shelf and consumer attitude and this validated Yeboda as a reliable pickle jar wholesaler of high quality pickle jars.
